The release of God of War on PS4 is coming up later this month, but one of April’s big events–Wrestlemania 34–has now passed. WWE’s PPV featured a number of notable moments, but few were as unusual as Braun Strowman picking a tag-team partner.
Strowman and a mystery partner were set to compete for the Raw Tag Team Championships. He came to the ring on his own and announced his partner was somewhere in the arena. Rather than announce a surprise name, he ventured into the crowd in search of someone to team up with–and that turned out be a young boy named Nicholas. Strowman, as you’d expect, did all the heavy lifting as Nicholas stood on the ring apron, and they actually won–meaning some (seemingly) random kid is now the owner of a WWE championship belt.
Naturally, something like this is going to become internet fodder. Father/son comparisons were drawn, and the image of the new champions walking up the ramp was used for the meme where a photo is credited as if it’s from a movie or video game. In this case, there’s the tweet below, treating that moment as if came from the upcoming God of War.
Among those to have enjoyed it is Cory Barlog, the director of God of War. He retweeted it, adding a smile.
God of War releases on April 20 and focuses on the story of Kratos and his son, Atreus. It makes improvements to combat, features an axe as the new primary weapon, and offers some nice-sounding PS4 Pro enhancements. As for criticisms about the game, Barlog says Sony is holding stuff back from what we’ve seen so far.
